Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities

The Monster Detective Collective for Public Power week was a win-win. [Community partner] Pajarito Environmental Education Center took the Public Power Learning Lab into 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade classrooms in Los Alamos to discuss electricity with students. They talked about where Los Alamos gets its power, why it's important to conserve electricity, and what are some ways to conserve at home. Students were very engaged while interacting with the program and all the monsters.”

Middleborough Gas & Electric Department

We were looking to get integrated with our community for a while now so once we saw this, we jumped right on it .... We were able to get involved with the homeschooling program, we did the 1 2 3 grade in Middleborough. We also did Lakeville, we were able to do kindergarten through 5th grade.”

[The students] absolutely loved [the program]. They thought this was the best thing. It was pretty cool to see the little things we take for granted every day, like seeing a lineman go up in a bucket, they thought that was the greatest thing in the world. And to see the reactions on Facebook parents. That was the best thing, seeing that they came home from school and had something to talk about.

[It] really gets you involved with the community and it’s such a rewarding experience. It’s very fun!

Milepost and the Monster Detective team have been great to work with. Not only is the training and set-up really easy, the program is entertaining and educational. The students have a great time with this interactive platform that makes learning fun! Teachers enjoy the change in curriculum and students leave with materials that can continue their education at home with their family. For us, that’s a win-win-win.”

Manitowoc Public Utilities

One of Manitowoc Public Utilities’ core values is Collaboration – promoting a continuous learning environment for customers, employees, and partners. The Monster Detective Collective (MDC) program aligns with that goal. It truly is an “off the shelf” program that guides employees as we teach children to be good consumers, which will set habits for a lifetime! We love how the MDC program places our employees in front of students in a classroom, a scouting group, or at a program at the library. We look forward to spending time with our local 3rd graders this coming year.”
